Prize Pork Presents for Your BBQ season

With his naturally inquisitive mind, Brian Misko has taken his passion about grilling from his backyard playground in Surrey, British Columbia to competing and winning awards around North America.

Starting with bbq competitions in 2006 in Vancouver and Whistler, Brian has lead his team to the Jack Daniels World BBQ Championships in 2009 and again this past October. House of Q completed this 2014 bbq season as the #1 Team in Canada. Brian was a guest chef at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics with Vikram Vij, Pino Postero, John Bishop and Tojo at his side. His collection of trophies, plaques, ribbons and awards shows his determination to be the best.

Brian shares his know-how through regular interviews and cooking demonstrations on TV, newspapers and magazine articles. Thousands have seen his BBQ Tips on the Global TV BC Morning News, at a trade show cooking demonstration or at cooking classes across Western Canada.

Most exciting is his new title as cookbook author. Having just completed the editing Brian is looking forward to sharing his book, Grilling with House of Q,  released in spring of 2015.

Growing up on the island of Barbados, Raphael learned to cook from his mother, based on original recipes passed down from her mother. They used fresh ingredients grown on the family’s land, chopped on a wooden block, and ground with a mortar and pestle. Raphael has been making Bajan (Barbadian) seasoning and pepper sauces his entire life, and we’ve decided to share them with the world.

Together with his son Rommel, and daughter Renita, Raphael creates products representing a family legacy that started over 200 years ago. The result is unlike anything you’ve tried before.

Angie Quaale: Well Seasoned a Gourmet Food Store

Angie Quaale is a champion for ALL things local. She is a best selling cookbook author (“Eating Local in the Fraser Valley“, Random House 2018), a chef and an entrepreneur. Angie lives in Langley, BC and has owned Well Seasoned gourmet foods inc. since 2004.

Angie is a regular guest Chef with cooking segments on Global BC and CTV Vancouver, she is a contributing culinary expert on CBC and for Black Press BC. Angie can be seen doing cooking demos and events at various trade shows throughout the region.

Before opening Well Seasoned, Angie enjoyed a successful career in the food service sector specifically working for manufacturers on specialty food distribution and menu development throughout North America. Angie is very connected to food trends and takes tremendous pride in her ability to teach home cooks to make better food at home. Her fun, commonsensical approach, passion for reducing food waste and working with as many local, seasonal ingredients as possible is just part of what makes Angie’s cooking style relatable.

Angie also spent many years practicing and mastering the art of Low & Slow, traditional Southern Style BBQ and a decade competing in BBQ competitions all over North America, she and her partner David represented Canada at the Jack Daniels World Invitational BBQ Championships in Lynchburg, Tennessee where they won first place awards for “Home Cooking from the Homeland” and the “BBQ Desserts” categories. They also competed in the American Royal Invitational BBQ Championships and won multiple Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion awards at many prestigious BBQ competitions throughout Canada and the US. Angie and David still have a passion for BBQ, they just spend more time cooking for friends and less time competing.

Just in time for the holidays; Discover a seasoning beyond expectations

Vankoji Founder, Tonami, began selling Shiokoji in 2013 at the Nikeii Japanese culture center. She discovered Shiokoji while making her own koji (a powdery fungus grown on rice) for home made miso-paste. After reading about shiokoji’s popularity back in her homeland, Tonami decided to introduce it to local Japanese.

Since 2013, Vankoji has been producing and selling Shiokoji and other koji based seasonings at craft fairs and festivals.

Every year, sales has grown as more and more people from different nationalities enjoy this product in their every day cooking.
